My hubby is a huge fan of masala vada. Have soaked channa dal for the vada, but could not make it up for the day. So I grinded the channa dal (soaked) with rice and toor dal, it turned out to be very yummy dosa recipe. And I thought of sharing the recipe with you all.
I used to prepare parrupu dosa with rice and toor dal or with all kinds of dals mixed together as a rich protein pack. But it also good to have these kinds of dosa once in a while. The more the twist we bring in the recipe it of course intrigues the passion for cooking !!!.
Channa Dal dosa |
Ingredients:
Channa dal - 11/2 cup
Toor dal- 1/4 cup
Raw rice-1/2 cup
Garlic- 2 cloves
red chilies- 1 big
Cumin seeds- 1 tbsp
Salt- as required
Oil - little for dosa
Method:
Soak the channa dal along with rice and toor dal for 4 hours
Grind the soaked dals and rice with garlic + red chilies + cumin seeds and salt. Pour water and make sure it grinds smoothly with the consistency of dosa batter.
Heat the iron griddle, check by sprinkling some water on the griddle. If it evaporates the moment it is sprayed, it is good to start dosa preparation
Take a ladle of batter, pour it on the griddle. Smooth the batter using the back cup shaped portion of the ladle. Make sure it is flat and thin in a circular shape.
Pour oil on the sides of dosa. Once it is cooked on one side, flip it and cook on both sides.
If you want, you can add finely cut onion, curry leaves and cilantro to the batter before cooking. I skipped this step since I use the same for parrupu dosa and wanted to show the difference.
This goes well with idly podi or any thugayal.
